Twitter was started by Evan Williams and Jack Dorsey in 2006, when they got an idea to create an SMS based social networking platform, they worked on the idea and finally landed up creating a fabulous mobile application which we all know today as Twitter. Elon Musk who is a celebrity entrepreneur has over 8.3 crore followers on Twitter and after a poll post, he decided to play big. Elon musk secretively started acquiring Twitter shares back in January ending 2022 and by April with over a 9.2% stake in the company, he became Twitter's largest shareholder. The reason behind this aggressive buying of shares was to take control of the company, and finally, on 14th April 2022, Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for 43 billion dollars and take control of the company. In order to protect Twitter from this hostile takeover by Elon musk, twitter activated the poison pill strategy in order to protect the interests of the investors of the company.
